Senior Segment is Reshaping Real Estate Dynamics in Hamilton and West Niagara

Imagine the different kinds of expertise involved in helping a first-time buyer purchase a home, versus helping a last-time seller to downsize and choose from among an array of housing options for the next stage of his or her life.

 
First-time home buyers and 55 Plus and Senior sellers face a vastly different set of options, expectations, concerns and challenges, but too often, the real estate industry has taken a one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter approach to serving clients.
 
Demographic trends are pointing to seismic shifts ahead for housing in Canada. The numbers of seniors aged 65 and over is projected to more than double from 1.8 million, 2009, to 4.1 million by 2036. By 2017, for the first time, seniors will account for a larger share of population than children aged 0–14. Every single one of those millions represents a unique individual who deserves to have his or her move handled with the utmost compassion, integrity, attention to detail and connectedness to the full spectrum of professionals who are often involved in ensuring a seamless transition for seniors and their families.
