5 simple ways to upgrade your kitchen

You don’t have to spend a fortune to update your kitchen and give it a fresh look. You can make an impact in no time with these five simple ideas:

New hardware

Changing handles and pulls to a more modern and decorative option is one of the easiest updates you can give to your kitchen. It’s a quick job and really makes a difference in the entire space.

Paint the cabinets

New cabinets can be quite expensive, so painting them instead is a great inexpensive option. Choose a premium quality self-priming paint in a durable eggshell or semigloss finish. Remove hardware, clean and sand the surface and then paint two to three coats.

Add a backsplash

This is usually a fairly small area to cover making it an easy and inexpensive update. Tile is a good material of choice as it's water resistant and easy to clean. Or, instead of installing a new backsplash you can always paint the old one! Be sure to pick a semi-gloss paint so it will resist moisture better and you can wipe it clean.

Paint the room

Choose a new colour and paint all of the walls or just an accent wall. Either way, a new coat of paint gives you big bang for your buck and makes such a difference with a fresh feel to the room.

Replace lighting

Old and outdated light fixtures can really date the kitchen. Choose new stylish lighting such as pendant lights to add a modern look. You can even find various lighting conversion kits that make changing the look of your light fixture a breeze.
